Queensland Gallery
of Modern Art

Designed for an international open competition for a new art gallery in Queensland, Australia, my entry for the new Queensland Gallery of Modern Art represents the artistic renaissance of a flourishing nation. Half of the museum is underground, with its two major forms, a circle and warped triangle, seemingly half submerged in a pool of crystal blue water. Access into the museum is restricted to a limited number of underground entrances which are barely noticeable from ground level. These entrances are carved into the landscape and are like pockets into the recesses of a bountiful nation. In essence, my design entry embodies the notion that art emerges from the roots of a nation and its people.
